A HOST FLAVOURS UNDER THE AMALFI SUN
AMALFI COAST RESTAURANTS
Everywhere on Amalfi Coast , you will find cafes and restaurants surrounding you on patios overlooking the sea. There are also many typical shops selling salami and caprese cheese, olive oil , local wines, fresh bread and selections of pastries to prime your appetite. Unlike what you are used to in many tourist areas, local restaurants do not have a printed menu – they will simply tell you what is available. Don't think you will be charged excessively, because this usually indicate just that freshly prepared dishes are provided to satisfy their predominantly local clientele – so these are the restaurants you should go for.
The Amalfi Coast is the place to go for fresh seafood – calamari (squid), cozze (mussels), tonno (tuna), gamberetti (shrimp s ), aragosta (lobster), ostriche (oysters), and polpi (octopus) as well as pesce spada (swordfish steak) – a universal favorite, seppie (cuttlefish) and triglie (mullet), cooked in dry white wine, extra-virgin olive oil, garlic and delicious fresh tomatoes.
Just look for your shady spot under a colorful umbrella, sample a refreshing limoncello made from lemons grown locally, order a light snack and relax to your hearts content. Then when you are ready for the main course, we recommend:
